Hi! I'm glad you're here. Please let me introduce myself.

I am an aspiring blogger, content writer, storyteller, book writer, and editor. I am currently looking for internships as well as professional career opportunities where I can showcase my strengths as a writer, grow my knowledge of communications, and serve in a professional organization. Please continue reading to see how I can become an integral player on your organization’s communications team.

What I Am Learning

As a Professional Communications student, I have gained valuable knowledge and experience with the latest in AI collaboration. I have used AI to set the wheels rolling for new ideas and for beginning first drafts of documentation and design. I have grown in my ability to refine search queries and promptings to encourage the AI to bring out deeper and more goal-specific answers. And I have become more aware of the need to fact-check and humanize AI results to flow with the unique style of a human being or brand voice.

But as useful as AI is, there is still so much more to our growing communications needs.

My storytelling skills are an important part of my creative strengths, turning data into narratives while explaining trends and insights for non-technical audiences.  I am also learning the pros and cons of digital communications and becoming more efficient on digital and social platforms, creating social media posts, short-form content, newsletters, and press releases. And all the while, keeping to brand voice and content strategy, optimizing for SEO and discoverability, and delivering multichannel communications across platforms and formats. I have written video scripts, email and website copy, scripted and recorded podcasts, and utilized various multimedia software programs and social platforms such as YouTube and Sound Cloud for publication and delivery.

However, this is just my most recent experience.

What I Have Already Cultivated

I also have an extensive work history as a Corporate Legal Assistant, where much of my writing was in the form of creating and editing business correspondence, transcription, and editing legal documents and business contracts. Of course, there were lots of other administrative duties involved as well. For instance, there was managing schedules, coordinating travel arrangements – both inside and outside the U.S., creating and submitting expense reports, communicating across departments, delegation of work projects, general customer service, and maintaining document and client files – while exercising privacy and discretion.

These years of experience have trained and honed my professional attitude, my work ethic, and helped create a solid foundation for continued growth.

A Little History Of Me

Just before my first daughter was born, I took advantage of an opportunity to rest from this corporate multi-tasking balancing act to raise and homeschool all three of my children. This became my new multi-tasking and balancing act.  Now, with all three children having grown into thriving adults, I have begun to reposition my life's course on a new journey.

I am now an enthusiastic and passionate Professional Communications student at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton. My new path as a writer and communications professional is not so much a conversion as it is a developing progression. It began with my on-the-job experiences in the legal and technical fields, continuing on as a teacher of writing (among other things) to my own children, and on to where I am currently – learning all the new channels and methods of communication in today’s technology-driven global market.

Writing and communicating are my passions. The possibilities are endlessly evolving. I look forward to hearing from you about how I can assist your organization with your communications needs.

Gratefully yours,

Vicky!
